The Baccu Talentinu and Bau Arenas mines lie west of the town, set in a deep, charming valley in the shade of the limestone crag of Montarbu. The access road to the mine sites and facilities is located on the southern outskirts of the town, near the bridge over the Rio Corongiu. From here, a dirt track provides easy access to the ore-washing and smelting works. The Talentinu and Bau Arenas mining sites are approximately a 90-minute walk from the washing plant. Bau Arenas mine is in a more northerly location than Talentinu. It can be reached via a recently improved path made usable by the Forestas agency. Continuing along the trail created as part of the RES Sardegna (Hiking Network of Sardinia), walkers can reach the Sentiero Italia (Grand Italian Trail) and proceed to the Mount Giuilea area alongside the Tacchi d’Ogliastra limestone plateaus. The route is moderately difficult and takes about an hour.
