Deledda Museum – Grazia Deledda’s Birthplace.

The Deledda Museum is housed in the building where the local writer Grazia Deledda (1871-1936) was born.
Thanks to the generosity of the Madesani-Deledda family, the ISRE came into possession of a large number of manuscripts, photographs, various documents and personal objects that formed the first museum collection, inaugurated on 5th March 1983. The current exhibition arrangement (following the first documentary staging) is aimed at highlighting the writer’s tormented bond with Nuoro and at the same time the personal and literary events following her transfer to Rome. The museum is accessible through a building adjacent to the house. The visit covers all three levels of the house, marked by a central staircase, and continues through the courtyard and the garden.
Cosima is the autobiographical novel by Grazia Deledda which tells the life of a girl from the Sardinian province in search of fulfilling her dream: to become a writer. In Cosima the author presents her dreams, humiliations, literary failures and first successes, but also describes the world of her childhood and early youth, that ancient and rustic world that can still be breathed by paying a step-by-step visit to her house.
