Palazzo Loreto
Palazzo Loreto is one of the rare examples of full-scale regional museums and it is headquarters of several associations of the village. It is located on the eighteenth-century side of the village. A local and high-profile family lived there and, now, the palace belongs to the municipality. Through the years it has hosted many exhibitions about customs and cultural events and it still continues to house, permanently, an exhibition on agricultural art. The building is fabricated in stonework shored up by hand, that recalls the traditional work of “stonecutters” typical of our village. It’s possible to see a solemn gate with a round arch in the main facade with an elegant keystone. From the architectural perspective there are four floors: basement, assigned as cellar; ground floor, consisting of a big atrium mainly for the access to the aristocratic floors; first floor, where is a majestic fireplace with original majolica and then, second floor. This one, with dark brown beams made of eighteenth-century wood, preserves F. Jovine’s documents and writings and a library including narrative texts. In this floor, there is also a part of the building designated to stones and tools museum.
