Colli sul Velino is a small town in the Rieti area that dominates the plain and offers fantastic views of Lake Ventina. To these lands, Saint Francis tied most of his life, walking through the splendid valleys and making the acquaintance of so many creatures.

In most historical texts, there is no trace of information on Colli sul Velino: the reason lies in the fact that until 1962 the town was known as Colli sul Labro, and for a long time its history was actually closely linked to that of Labro.
