Palazzo TWOMBLY

This imposing building was built by the Altemps family, who in the first half of 16th century moved from nearby Austria to settle in Rome, where they placed themselves at the service of the Pope. In the 19th century it was bought by a noble family of landowners, the “Andreuzzi”. Since then, the manor took the name of Palazzo dell’Eredità; towards the second half of last century, it was again sold and purchased by a famous American abstract painter, CY TWOMBLY. Known for his personal style whereby he blurred the line between drawing and painting, he chose Bassano as his favourite place, so much so that his works are closely linked to the name of this town. A famous work that is worthy of mention is entitled “The four seasons: Spring Summer Autumn Winter”.
